Meet coach liv: From Freshers Week to Worlds
π My Background in Cheer β From Freshers Week to Worlds
When it all began
π I actually started a little later than most β I was 18 years old, and had just arrived at Nottingham Trent University.
During Freshers Fair I found the Nottingham Trent Tigersβ¦ signed up on the spotβ¦ and Iβve never looked back π
π Where the Passion Came From
Growing up I was a gymnast and dancer, so cheer was always in the back of my mind.πΊπΈ Every April my family visited Florida and Iβd see all the Worlds teams walking around the parks β it was so inspiring. Sadly, there wasnβt a cheer team where I grew up π€·ββοΈ β so the moment I moved away to university I grabbed the opportunity and started my cheer journey.
𧱠Base Life = Best Life
My favourite position has always been basing πͺ
There is something so powerful about the strength and stability bases bring, all while:
β holding the stunt
β counting the timing
β hitting facials
β and keeping the entire team calm
Honestlyβ¦ I could watch bases all day at competitions π
π Highest Level Achieved
π Level 7 Tumble β Team England AG Premier
π Level 7 Non-Tumble β Unity All Stars Blush (Worlds)
β€οΈ Favourite Routine of All Time
My very first ever routine π«
It was non-competitive game day cheer and we performed at an Ice Hockey match. It was the first time I really felt what it was like to be part of a routine β and that single experience sparked my love of cheer π
β οΈ Biggest Challenge: Injuries
Having hypermobile joints has brought quite a few injuries over the years.
π©Ί Taking time out to rest (as advised by doctors)
ποΈ Rebuilding strength
π§ Trusting the processβ¦
β¦that has been the biggest challenge of my cheer career β but also one of the most rewarding.
π« My Biggest Inspiration
One of my closest friends now was actually someone I looked up to for more than five years before I ever even met her. She constantly breaks boundaries with new stunts and even travels internationally to learn new skills and techniques. It feels like a privilege to now have her in my life π
π Proud Moments & Awards
π₯ Being chosen as Captain for Team England (by my teammates)
β Hands down one of the proudest moments of my entire cheer journey.
π€ΈββοΈ Cheer Favourites
π Favourite to watch
Creative transitions & surprise elements
π Favourite to perform
Spinning (as a base!) β so seamless when perfected
β Go-to Pre-Practice Snack
Banana π
π§ Pump-up Song
Six β The Musical
π¬ Most-used Team Emoji

π£ Why I Became a Coach
The thought of retiring as an athlete and no longer being part of the cheer world?
Absolutely not π ββοΈ
Becoming a coach means I get to:
β¨ stay in the sport I love
β¨ help the next generation of athletes
β¨ share everything Iβve learnt over the years
β¦and I honestly cannot wait π
π§ My Best Advice to Athletes
Trust the process.
Trust your coaches.
Enjoy every minute.
π One Thing I Wish Everyone Understood
That cheerleading is a sport.
It takes:
π athleticism
π teamwork
π strength
π discipline
π and years of dedication
One day I hope when we say βIβm a cheerleaderβ, the response will automatically be respect.
